Municipal Solid Waste at a landfill Discarded tires are easily treated in an EnerWaste system

Waste Types

There are few systems, if any, that are as versatile and easy to operate as the BOS. It's modular design makes it suitable for small projects of just a few tons per day, up to larger municipal projects of 100 tons per day. Some examples of acceptable solid waste types are provided below:

  • Untreated Municipal Solid Waste (MSW)
  • MSW with organic fraction removed for composting
  • Biomass
  • Industrial packaging wastes
  • Industrial process wastes
  • Off-spec products
  • Mixed waste plus tires
  • Mixed waste plus dried sewage sludge
  • Mixed waste plus oils
  • Clinical wastes
  • Animal remains

Most combustible wastes are acceptable as long as they meet specifications for moisture content. Average moisture content of waste treated by the BOS should not exceed 40%. Wet wastes can be mixed with dry wastes in order to meet this requirement. Otherwise, additional drying equipment must be installed to partially dry the wet waste prior to BOS treatment.
